So I've been AWOL for a few days - here's why:

So, as many of you know - I have asthma. This is made especially fun during cold and flu season, since I tend to come down with just about everything that goes around, and have it for three times longer than everyone else.

I came down with what I thought was the flu on Sunday, and had what I thought was a flu-related asthma attack on Monday night. So, I went in to the emergency room, thinking I just needed a nebulizer treatment and could go home in an hour or two. I ended up getting severely dizzy and the ER ran a CAT scan on me to see if anything more serious was going on.

There was.

It ended up that I didn't have the flu and wasn't having an asthma attack. I had a pulmonary embolism - or bloodclots in the minor veins of my lungs. They admitted me early Tuesday morning and kept me in the hospital until Wednesday evening. I'm convalescing at home right now.

I have to give myself blood-thinning injections in the stomach for the next four days and take pills for six months.
